It's 12 midnight and we've just returned home. Funnily enough, I'm not sleepy. Perhaps it's the excitement of being home again --- had almost forgotten how much I love my home. Only thing missing now is Patch, can't wait to bring him home tomorrow.
:)
Was mucking around with the blood pressure monitor at my parents' place. Turns out Ed has healthy blood pressure (123/80) while I have LOW blood pressure (90/55). Am not really sure what it means to have low blood pressure (or hypotension), but I've always had low blood pressure for as long as I can remember. The doctors always tell me not to worry cause it's a common symptom amongst small and skinny girls.
Hmmm.
Tomorrow, Ed and I will be flying back to Malaysia to celebrate CNY with our families. On one hand, I'm looking forward to seeing my parents and friends :). On the other hand, Patch will have to go to the doggy hotel :(.
Happy CNY, everyone.
...
Today, I received 100 dollars from my company's CNY draw. The funny thing is, when I first opened my angpow, I thought I had only got 10 dollars. It was my colleagues who later pointed out that it was a 100-dollar note. Well I think it's an easy mistake to make given that the 2 notes are similar in colour and I've never actually seen a Singapore 100-dollar note.
:)
Today, Patch climbed through one of the gates and ran all the way to Telok Kurau Park (about 5 minutes' walk from our apartment). Ed gave chase but to no avail --- the louder he shouted, the faster Patch ran. On his way to the park, Patch mocked each and every dog he met. In the end, he got distracted by a tree and Ed caught hold of him as he was peeing.
;p
- Complain less
- $ave more
- Exercise more (not too successful last year ;p)
- Eat more healthily (ditto)
- Attend church and cell group meetings more regularly
- Read newspapers more regularly
Today, my bro turns 34.
:)
... On a separate note, I realised that the washer-dryer (combi) that I thought was going at $500 (see entry below) is not actually a washer-dryer, but only a washer. I'm such an idiot.
;p
Considering buying a washer-dryer (combi). Courts is currently offering one for $500 (the lowest I've seen so far). Did some quick research online and, so far, the reviews (from users) are not encouraging. Common concerns/problems include:
- Drying function not as effective as standalone dryer
- If washing or drying function spoils, the entire machine needs to repaired/replaced
- Drying capacity is only half that of washing capacity, so will need to take out half the load between washing and drying (but then, if you had 2 separate units, you will need to transfer the load from one to the other anyways, so this one does not really count in my opinion)

I'm reminded afresh of how fragile life is by the recent passing of a friend's wife. It was a freak accident - she was in a cab when a lorry crashed into the cab and killed her - and she was only 30 plus.
It's sad but it always takes an incident like this to remind me to stop complaining. Sure, my job isn't great and I dread going to work. Sure, my home instalment is sky-high and I've had to cut back on my spending. But you know what, at least I still have my loved ones around me. What more can I ask for?
