My Dressing Table

on Thursday, December 04, 2008

Today, my dressing table finally arrived. :)

Patchkin Skywalker

Had some fun mucking around with Patch, the blanket and Photoshop.

Christmas Tree

We're spending Christmas in Singapore this year. This means, this will be the first year (since we moved to Singapore) that we spend Christmas here. It also means, this will be our first Christmas in our very own home.

Just to get into the spirit, we bought ourselves a mini Christmas tree.

Dining Set

Our dining set is finally here! We've waited 2 whole months for it to come, but it was definitely worth the wait. We can now seat 6 persons comfortably, and just in time for Christmas too.

Leaping Lizard in Singapore

on Friday, October 10, 2008

Had another visitor from home yesterday. Liping stopped over in Singapore on her way to Dubai. Sigh, I'm still so disappointed that she's not coming to Singapore after all. It's such bad timing, what with the economy and job market slowing down. Still, I can't feeling excited for her and Fred cause they're going to be in Dubai for 2 years. I have not given up hope, I'm now waiting for her to move to Singapore after her stint in Dubai.

:)

Visitor from Home

on Sunday, October 05, 2008

Tzu-Anne came down and stayed with us over the weekend. It was so nice to see her and catch up with her. I think Patch liked having her around too. She taught him a new command: "No lick!".

Our Balcony

on Saturday, October 04, 2008

We bought a wooden fence for our balcony. I really love the view from our balcony.

High Maintenance Dog

on Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Brought Patch to the vet again cause he started limping on his left hind leg (also his surgery leg). Was worried that he had torn his ligament again. Thankfully, no, the vet does not think so. He (the vet) suspects that he's (Patch) probably just strained his leg. So he suggests plenty of rest and some glucosamine pills, which costed $130!

More Additions

on Sunday, September 28, 2008

Went to the opening sale of Wihardja's new outlet at East Coast Road and picked up a laundry basket for only $39.

Happy Birthday to Me

Can't believe I'm finally 30! It feels good. :)

Early Birthday Pressie

on Friday, September 19, 2008

Here's my early birthday pressie from Ed. He knows me so well. :)

Patch Ate Plastic!?!

We bought Patch a new toy to keep him occupied during the day. The toy is from the Petstages collection (developmental toys) and "Soothing" range - specially designed to calm active dogs. Yea, right. Not only did he get more excited than usual, he managed to bite through the plastic portion and ended up eating part of the toy.

Nice one, Patch.

Patch in Singapore

on Sunday, September 14, 2008

Everyone's been asking about Patch, so I thought I'd provide some updates.

On the whole, Patch seems to be settling well in Singapore. Apart from the lonely weekdays (when we are at work and he stays home alone), he gets a lot of attention from Ed and I:

  • We try to walk him at least once a day (unless it rains and the grounds are wet) and the good news is he's getting better on the leash - he still insists on being in front but I'm just glad that he doesn't pull like he used to.

  • He gets a lot of biscuits during the day (partly to make up for leaving him home alone) and playtime in the night.

  • At night, he sleeps by the side of our bed in our bedroom. Sometimes, if he is lucky, he gets to sleep on the bed with us.

  • His favourite corner of the house is the balcony (as I had expected). He spends a lot of time sitting at the balcony and observing people (and dogs) pass by.

I daresay that Patch is happy here. :)

Time for a Change

on Saturday, September 13, 2008

Last night, I met up with some ex-colleagues (also friends) from my last company. I was surprised to find that I had actually missed them. One of them commented that I had not changed at all. I was somewhat surprised. But I reasoned: as we grow older, we tend to change less. Is that good or bad?

I came home and decided to change my blog template. I wanted something simple (another sign that I'm getting older?). Settled for this template, which is called, "Minimalist".

Think I'll go for a haircut next.

:)

Newest Additions at Home

on Sunday, September 07, 2008

After considerable measurement and discussion, Ed and I headed to Ikea to get a bookshelf only to find that the model we want (Expedit) is currently out of stock. So much for planning in advance. We ended up buying potpourri.

On a brighter note, we got some cushions from Takashimaya using the vouchers that I'd won during my recent company trip. If nothing else, they made the trip worthwhile. Thanks, GfK!

Also bought a new collar for Patch. :)

I'm Famous!

on Friday, September 05, 2008

A picture of Ed, my sis and I - taken during Lucasfilm's (Ed's company) Family Day two years ago - has mysteriously appeared in the corporate website under the recruitment section. Ironically, it appeared in the overview section for the San Francisco office. Also, my sis and I are not employees of Lucasfilm.

Go figure.

Patch's Rug

on Sunday, August 31, 2008

We just bought a rug for our living area. We were unsure whether to have a rug or not but, in the end, Patch decided it for us because his nails were leaving scratch marks on our platform. So, we call it Patch's rug. ;p

Our Sofa

Happenings

on Monday, August 11, 2008

Wow it's been awhile since I last blogged. Ironically, so much has happened since too.

Last Friday was my boss' last day with GfK Asia --- he's moving to GfK Germany. :(

Tomorrow, Ed and I will be moving into our new apartment. Our own home, finally. :)

This Wednesday, Patch will be released from the quarantine station. He'd have been there for 1 month exactly. :)

My boss said to me, "You don't care about me, do you?". That's not true. I DO care about him, and I WILL miss having him around. But there's more good than bad things happening, so it's kinda difficult to be sad or unhappy. It's just bad (or good, depending on how you see it) timing. Sorry, Simon.

Nightmare

on Wednesday, July 16, 2008

Last night, I dreamt that I went to visit Patch at the quarantine station. When I got there, I couldn't see him in his kennel. So I started to look around to see if he was in another kennel. I finally found him with 3 other dogs (!) in the same kennel in the non air-cond (!!) section. One of the dogs was really big, and the other 3 dogs (including Patch) appeared terrified of him. Whenever Patch tried to move, one of the other dogs (not the big one) would bite him. Pore Patch had a deep bite and scratch mark above his left eye. (Isn't it weird how vivid dreams can be?). Even in my dream, I was so angry! I went up to the kennel, opened the door and let the big dog run free. I then gently carried Patch out and made up my mind to bring him home right there and then.

What a horrid nightmare.

Today, Tomorrow and the Day After

on Sunday, July 13, 2008

Today, I traded in my old phone (Samsung, X820) for a new phone (Samsung, F480).

Tomorrow, Patch arrives in Singapore.

The day after, we start renovation on our new apartment.

:)

...

Yesterday, Ed and I went shopping for ceiling fans. As advised by our renovator (and practically everyone else we'd spoken to), we went to Balestier Road. The good news was, the whole street was full of lighting and fan shops! The bad news was, all the shops carried the same 5 brands of ceiling fans: Elmark, Crestar, Amasco, Allied and KDK. I saw an Elmark fan that I like best while Ed prefers a Crestar fan. The Elmark fan looks nicer (in my humble opinion) and is cheaper but is made of silicon steel therefore will likely rust. The Crestar fan is more expensive but is made of acrylic (which looks cheap, again in my humble opinion) therefore is less likely to rust. We ended up going home empty handed. We decided to check out more shops before making our final purchase.

Happenings

on Tuesday, July 01, 2008

So much has happened in the last 2 weeks. Both good and bad.

On 16th June, I made my first (and possibly last) trip to Nuremberg, Germany where my company headquarters is located.

On the morning of 18th June, Michael (Ed's brother-in-law) was called home by our Lord. Ed and I returned to Malaysia to be with the family. My heart goes out to Elaine and Brian, know that you are constantly in our prayers.

On 23rd June, Ed and I finally got the keys to our new apartment. We had waited so long for that day and yet so much had happened in between that our excitement had paled slightly when the day actually came. Still, it was very exciting stepping into the apartment for the first time. The apartment that will be our new home. Our very own home.

Happy Father's Day!

on Sunday, June 15, 2008

It's Father's Day today. ... Happy Father's Day, Pa and Di!

...

I'm leaving for Germany in approximately 4 hours from now. How depressing. Gawd I hate travelling, especially long-distance travelling. I've not even left and already I'm counting down the days until I return.

:(

... ...

Ed and I saw "P.S. I Love You" over the weekend. It was his first time and my second time watching the show. Ordinarily, I'm not the romantic comedy type but I hafta admit this is one of the better made romantic comedies in awhile. The chemistry between the two lead actors - Hillary Swank and Gerard Butler - was really good. I actually cried my way through the movie (both times). Highly recommended for couples.

Blur

on Wednesday, June 11, 2008

I'm such a ninny. I went around with blurred vision for 1 whole month, thinking that my eyesight had deteriorated. Today, it finally hit me what the problem was: I had bought a box of contact lens with the wrong prescription.

On a brighter note, Ed and I just got ourselves new glasses. How exciting.

Sneak Peek

on Sunday, June 08, 2008

Ed and I finally got to see the inside of Treeline (our new apartment) today! My friend, who's a property agent, had a viewing there so we asked whether we could go along. The unit we got to see is not exactly the same as the one we bought but it's close enough. We love the interior! The fittings look much nicer than we had expected and the toilets are absolutely gorgeous. :)

Two more weeks until we get our keys. Sigh.

Indy vs. Narnia

on Sunday, June 01, 2008

Ed and I saw Indiana Jones (and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) last weekend and Narnia (Prince Caspian) this weekend. Interestingly, I was very disappointed with the former and pleasantly surprised by the latter.

Frankly, I thought Indiana Jones was a cop-out. I mean, seriously, aliens??? They're so passe.

As for Narnia, I don't care what anybody else says, I liked it. The storyline was more unpredictable and the fights scenes were more riveting this time around (although I must say, I do miss the scenes in the prequel where the four-legged Narnians ran ahead in battle with the enemy). The acting as usual was not great but I found myself cracking up at several points, thanks largely to new addition, Eddie Izzard.

My verdict? Narnia wins hands down.
(Ed wants to state for the record that he thinks otherwise. La dee dar.)

I'm sick. I've got an MC for tomorrow just in case.

Of Kids and Sheep

on Sunday, May 25, 2008

My sis and family are back in Singapore. Chuan returned from his business trip to Shanghai while my sis and TJ returned from a week's stay with my parents in KL. They dropped by in the night. As usual, TJ was up to his antics. His latest 'trick' is the shower cap.

:)

...

It's been a week of movies for Ed and I: Black Sheep, Rambo III, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, 10 000 BC. My verdict? Black Sheep wins hands down. For those of you who've not seen this one, go catch it. You'll never see sheep in the same way again. It's the most hillarious movie I've seen in awhile. It's given birth to a whole new genre altogether: horredy (= horror + comedy).

Happy 1st Anniversary

Today, Ed and I celebrate our first anniversary as husband and wife. Happy Anniversary, Monke! :)

Exciting Yet Frustrating

on Thursday, May 08, 2008

Found out today that the current owner of our apartment unit is not taking the bait, which means we will not be able to get hold of the keys or start renovation works until 23 June. This also means that there will be at least 1 month where we will be paying rent for our current place AND installment for our new place.

Sigh.

:(

...

On a brighter note, the price of share that I bought seems to be picking up strongly. The excess cash will definitely come in handy in anticipation of the months ahead.

:)

Happy Feet

on Saturday, May 03, 2008

Ed finally found his pair of Sanuk sandals. :)

... ...

We just got home from the "Homes 2008" exhibition at Expo (hmmm, we seem to be going there quite a bit these days). I'm feeling rather happy because we managed to find curtains/blinds at a good price.

We also checked out the Metro and Harvey Norman sales. We were very tempted to buy an LCD television, but decided to wait until the end of the year (when prices have dropped further and we have more money). We ended up buying two sets of bedsheets at bargain prices.

On the whole, I must say today has been quite productive.

:) :)
