Renovation Updates

on Tuesday, April 29, 2008

Ed and I have met up with 4 and written to 3 interior designers. That makes it a total of 7 interior designers that we've been in touch with. And all in the space of 3 weeks. I think we've done as much as research as we possibly can (and should).

Today, I think we've finally decided which interior designer we're gonna go with. Right from the start, we had decided we would select neither the cheapest nor the most expensive interior designer. Chuan (my brother-in-law) had advised us to select someone with whom we were comfortable and can work with. Mum had advised us to seek recommendations from others and to have a look at the actual handiwork quality.

It's funny how the first is sometimes also the best. On hindsight, it seems like we had wasted a lot of time and effort (and money!) with every subsequent interior designer. Then again, if we had not wasted all that time and effort, how could we have known that the first was the best?

It's now time to look for curtains and blinds. We had at first set our hearts on wooden blinds, but Mum and several friends strongly advised against it because of the high maintenance involved (Mum also advised against curtains for the same reason). We then switched to Roman blinds, but now a friend advises against it because of the supposed low durability (I'll need to ask the renovator about this). In the meantime, I'm open to roller blinds ...

Hello dear.. wow we seem to be doing pretty much the same things! Doing up one's own place is so much work (and involves so much $$ :p) but I guess that's part of the whole experience, eh?

Hope things are going well for you and Ed *hugs*
